Sheppard Stays Hot With Merrittville Speedway 358 Mod Series Win

THOROLD, ONTARIO – May 21, 2013 – In a brilliant feat of showmanship, “Super Matt” Sheppard outmaneuvered Danny Johnson to win the first race of the 358-Modified Series Monday, May 20, at Merrittville Speedway.

Sheppard spent the second half of the 100-lap event fighting lapped traffic, but his ability to deftly steer his FX Caprara/Xtreme Lubricants 9s around and between cars kept him out of reach of Johnson’s challenges.

“I just wanted to run as hard as I could for 100 laps and try and get through the lapped traffic cleanly, but as quickly as I could too,” said Sheppard, who had no idea from his driver’s seat that Johnson was just a few car lengths behind the whole time. “I didn’t know if there was anybody right on me or not.”

The winner of an unprecedented three consecutive Super DIRTcar Series Championships typically sticks to the Big-Block Modified tour, but traveled to Merrittville from his Waterloo, N. Y., for the first race of the series after Monday’s postponement at Cornwall. Some of the best drivers in both divisions made the trip to Merrittville to show off their skills in a small block.

Jimmy Phelps, of Baldwinsville, N. Y., and Johnson, of Rochester, N. Y., started the feature in the front row with Sheppard just behind, fourth on the grid. Phelps, fueled by momentum from his heat race win, leapt forward at the green flag, speeding ahead of polesitter Johnson. Surviving two cautions and double-file restarts, Phelps ran strong the first quarter of the race, but not as strong as Sheppard, who passed Phelps for the lead in lap 24.

Sheppard kept his lead the remainder of the race through another two cautions and double-file restarts. The final 58 laps of the race went caution-free, creating added challenge for the leaders as they reached lapped traffic. Darting around and between cars, sometimes three at a time, Sheppard stunned crowds in the packed grandstands with his agility.

“I could kind of pick and choose myself through lapped traffic and move around a little bit, and just hold on until the end,” said Sheppard, who attributed his success to his preference for the track. “It’s just been an unbelievable track for us,” he said.

Johnson made several attempts to claim Sheppard’s lead in the last laps of the race, but could not find that outside groove that helped Sheppard cruise seemingly effortlessly around lapped cars.

Matt Sheppard And Jeremy Vunk Win At Utica Rome Speedway

May 19th

VERNON, NY- Once again, the fans were treated to another exciting night of short track racing this past Sunday evening that saw the Modified finish again decided in the last handful of laps with some late race drama and the support divisions of Sportsman, Pro Stocks, and Pure Stocks again providing some exciting action of their own.  The May 19 program, sponsored by the Mirabito Fuel Group and HR Refuse, was again run off in quick order due to weather concerns which saw Matt Sheppard take the Modified win, Jeremy Vunk the Sportsman winner, the Pro Stock win going to Pete Stefanski, and Frank Hyatt taking the top honors in the Pure Stocks.

When the green flag dropped to begin the 30 lap Modified feature, Darwin Greene and Adam Roberts brought the 27 car starting field down the front stretch with Greene grabbing the early lead.  On lap two, Roberts powered to take over the lead on the second circuit and would hold on to that spot for one more circuit.  Third place starter Casey Williams was the next driver to take his turn as the leader as he went around Roberts to assume the lead on lap three and begin to pull away. Williams set a quick pace out front as he began to pull away from field as Matt Sheppard was making his presence felt as he was moving through the field, slipping into the top five on lap nine.

A caution on lap 10 slowed the pace and brought Williams back to the rest of the field, with Roberts, Rob Bellinger, Greene, and Sheppard lining up on his bumper.  On the restart, Sheppard launched from the fifth spot to the second in one circuit and was now lurking after Williams, who was still showing the way around the big half mile.  On lap 17, Sheppard made his move as he slid up into the lead in front on Williams to become the new leader.  Last week’s winner, Stewart Friesen had made his way second by lap 20, after starting 16th on the grid, and was starting his pursuit of Sheppard.

The final caution of the event came out on lap 24 which set up a six lap dash to the finish, with Sheppard looking for his first win on the season at the Vernon oval while Friesen was become the first repeat winner of the year.  The restart saw Sheppard gain the advantage with Friesen charging off after him.  Going to the turns, Friesen would charge hard into the turn and try to slip up in front of Sheppard, but Sheppard was able to hold him off lap after lap.  As the leaders came to the white flag, Friesen was able to complete the slide job coming off turn four to gain the lead the line.  As they charged into turn one, Sheppard returned the favor as he dove low into the turn and attempted to slide up in front of Friesen on the exit of turn two.  Contact between the duo would see Friesen lose his momentum off and allow Sheppard to run off with the win.  Friesen would unhappily have to settle for second while Willy Decker came home in a hard fought third place.  Dale Planck and Mike Mahaney filled out top five spots with Roberts, Todd Burley, Ryan Phelps, Jimmy Davis, and Ronnie Johnson rounding out the top ten.

The Sportsman 20 lap feature saw Stephen Denton lead lap one with eighth place starter Jack Miller blasting by to become the new leader on lap two.  Miller pulled away with the rest of field jockeying for position, with Jeremy Vunk being the first one to separate himself from the pack and set off to challenge Miller.  By lap 13, Vunk had caught Miller and began to challenge him for the lead and by lap 16, his efforts paid off as he took the lead.  Vunk would run off to get the win with AJ Filbeck slipping by Miller to grab second at the checkered.  Miller settled for third with Tye-Scott Rood and Chris Mackey finishing in fourth and fifth.

Brian Malcolm added his name to the Penn Can Speedway win list on Friday evening.  Malcolm of Lake Ariel, PA steered into the lead on an early race restart then ran away from the field leading by a straightaway.  A late race caution saw Bob Hamm of Windsor, NY challenge Malcolm’s Sharkey’s Fuels No.119 but Malcolm held strong to take the win over Hamm, Nick Rochinski of Dickson City, PA; Mike Nagel of Susquehanna, PA and Bob Trapper of Scranton, PA.  Alex Stanton won the 602 Sportsman by about a foot over Butch Green while Shane Wolf Jr. was the Street Stock winner.  Johnathan Pepe won the Xcel 600 Modified Tour Race while Kenny Underwood (Four Cylinders) and George Brown(Factory Stocks) won both the held-over and regular events in their classes.

Bobby Trapper Jr. and Bob Hamm led the field to the green flag for the 30 lap Modified feature.  Hamm led at the start over Trapper and Adam MacGeorge.  The caution flew multiple times in the early going with a four car tangle then a single car spin and then on lap three third place running Trapper Jr. spun out in front of the entire field.  Mike Colsten who was making his season debut on Friday suffered heavy damage also collected were Mike Dougherty, John Siedlecky and MacGeorge.  When racing resumed Hamm now had Malcolm to his outside the pair raced side by side until Hamm pushed up a bit and Malcolm powered ahead.  Malcolm now led as Bob Hamm was challenged by tenth starter Bob Trapper.  Trapper took second on lap six as Hamm stayed close while Nick Rochinski ran fourth and Mike Nagel held down fifth.  With a dozen laps complete Malcolm had a sizeable lead over the battle for second as Hamm drove back by Trapper for the spot just as Malcolm entered lapped traffic at the halfway point.  Malcolm’s lead was erased on lap 20 when Alan Kellogg rolled to a stop.  Malcolm now had his hands full with Hamm meanwhile Rochinski moved into third ahead of Trapper and Nagel.  The caution flew on lap 21 as a few top ten cars go out of shape resulting in Joey Colsten, Mike Marold and Grant Hilfiger tangling.  Malcolm led Hamm and Rochinski meanwhile the battle from fourth through eighth was entertaining between Trapper, Nagel, Dan Pompey, Kevin Hartnett and last week’s winner Steve Babicek.  The final caution flew as Christine Martin spun again.  Brian Malcolm held on over the final three laps to take the win aboard the Tom Corr and Chris Clark owned No.119 Morrison powered Bicknell Bob Hamm in his Hamm Trucking No.USA1 Bicknell settled for second.  Nick Rochinski in the Rochinski Enterprises No.20R Teo placed third while Mike Nagel was fourth for the second week in a row and Bob Trapper completed the top five.  The rest of the top ten was 12th starter Hartnett, Pompey, 20th starter Babicek, Mike Nagel Jr. and Ken Titus.

“Finally we got one here at Penn Can.” said an excited Malcolm “I was hoping those lapped cars would give me a bit of a cushion but that didn’t happen. On those last restarts all I was thinking was just go and don’t look back.  Our team unfortunately lost a lot of family members over the winter and I’d like to dedicate this win to them.”

Wes Campbell led the first half of the 602 Sportsman event until defending champ Alex Stanton moved to the point at the halfway mark.  Campbell stuck close to Stanton for several laps as Butch Green was closing fast.  Green moved to second with just a few laps to go to set up an exciting final lap.  Green slung his ride to the inside of Stanton in turn one and two and again in three and four.  As they drag raced to the line side by side Stanton took the win by no more than a couple feet over Green.  Campbell was third ahead of Kyle Rohner and Paul Rooney.

Shane Pecore And Danny O'Brien Win At Brockville Speedway

Over 100 cars packed the pit area for the 2nd straight week on Superior Cellular and Sound night at The BOS. All 5 classes put on a great show for the fan and provided some great racing all night long.

The Sportsman division was set to go for the opening round of the Seaway GM and Performance Sportsman Series and defending series champion Chris Herbison was ready for battle as he drew the number 4 starting spot. However it was Dylan Breen and Steve Barber who drew the front row positions and at the drop of Gary Vandermeer's green flag Breen jumped out to a 4 car length lead. Just behind him last week's winner Shane Pecore, Barber, Herbison and Quebec star Steve Bernier were having a war for spots 2 through 5. The first caution flew on lap 7 for Jessica Power who set fastest time overall during time trials, as she came to a stop in turn 4. On the next restart 4 cars tangled in turn 1 bringing the yellow back out again. Once the drivers got going again on lap 8 Pecore was rolling around on the top side and was able to grab the lead from Breen with Herbison, Barber and Dylan Evoy rounding out the top 5. Pecore and Breen battled for several laps before Pecore took sole possession of the lead on lap 13. At the halfway point major problems for defending track and series champion Chris Herbison as he blew a motor in turn 4. Herbison was able to coast to the pits and the field remained under green. Pecore caught lapped traffic on lap 22 which brought Dylan Breen back into the mix, who was able to get by for the lead when the caution flag flew for debris. On the next restart Breen grabbed the lead again and looked to have a stronger car. However on lap 28 the great drive came to an end as Breen lost a right front tire in turn 2. This left Pecore with the lead on the next restart with Evoy, Bernier, Mathieu Desjardins and Jonathan Ferguson completing the top 5. Pecore was on cruise control for the rest of the night. With a full straightaway lead nobody was catching him on this night as he scored 2 in a row in the Sportsman class and 1st ever Seaway GM and Performance Sportsman Series win. Evoy, Bernier, Desjardins and Ferguson rounded out the top 5.

The 358 Modifieds were ready for their 30 lap contest and 10 time track champion Danny O'Brien had the pole position for the event and quickly flexed his muscle by taking the lead from Jason Riddell into turn 1. O'Brien quickly opened up a full straightaway lead by lap 3 with Riddell, Marc Therrien, Joe Banks and Adam Moore making up the top 5 early on. On lap 4 the yellow flag flew for a 3 car spin in turn 4. On the next restart is where everything let loose. Joe Banks who was running in 3rd got turned into the wall stacking up the field on the front stretch as a total of 10 cars slammed violently into each other and came to a rest in turn 1. After the carnage settled all drivers amazingly climbed out of their cars unhurt in the vicious accident. Some cars were damaged beyond repair for the night however a few cars were able to make repairs and rejoin at the back of the pack. With field set to go back racing Danny O'Brien continued his dominant run with Riddell, defending track champion Kyle Dingwall, Stephane Lafrance and Lee Gill. Only 1 caution more caution slowed the event but O'Brien stayed strong in the number 1 position by pulling out to a straightaway lead. By the halfway point the man on the charge was Stephane Lafrance. After an accident and injury filled 2012 season Lafrance has got everything in order for the new year. After coming from 13 he was able to get by Dingwall for 2nd and was in hot pursuit of the leader. With 2 laps to go Lafrance was within a car length of O'Brien which sent the BOS fans cheering to their feet as the 2 cars headed for the white flag. The top 2 raced bumper to bumper down the back stretch into turn 3 and 4. But with lapped traffic in front of them Danny O'Brien was not to be denied as he scored his 1st win of 2013 and 148th of his 358 modified career. Lafrance settled for 2nd, Lee Gill crossed 3rd with Dingwall and Riddell 4th and 5th at the checkers.

The new Rookie Sportsman division was on the card and the driver who claimed the opener Aaron Pugh had his work cut out for him as he started in the 5th position. Jamie Young and Jeremy Coulter were first to the green and put on a great battle for the top spot early on. Many early race caution flags slowed the event which involved the top 2 drivers. Once the field spaced out Aaron Pugh soared to the lead and clicked off some very smooth laps throughout the event with Jasmine David and Chris Bakker making up the top 3. The rest of the race would go caution free and Pugh was unchallenged again for his 2nd win in a row in the Rookie Sportsman class. David, Bakker, Tristan Draper and Richard Raison made up the top 5 spots at the finish.

Matt Sheppard and Greg Cool Score Wins at Canandaigua Speedway

Canandaigua, NY – May 18, 2013 – Dave Roberts, Canandaigua Motorsports Park PR Correspondent

For the second week in a row, Matt Sheppard came from the 18th starting spot to win his third of the 2013 season at the Canandaigua Motorsports Park on Saturday night in the Team Tire Masters Big Block Modified 35-lap feature on Empire/Beck's Recycling and Corby‘s Collision Night.

Other repeat winners were Mike Welch (Parts Plus Street Stock), Derek Excell (Pure Stock) and Jordan Siri (Community Car Care of Waterloo Legends Sportsman) while Greg Cool (Safety Awareness Solutions Sportsman) and Darryl Ruggles (Castner Performance 305 Sprints) reached victory lane for the first time in 2013.

Sheppard, 30 of Waterloo, NY, took the lead from pole-sitter Dave Rauscher on lap 25, making a move to the inside of Rauscher as the pair entered turn three and was never headed for the remainder of the race.

“This car has been awesome all year long,” said Sheppard, as he explained his night to the large CMP crowd that had filtered to the Ontario County Fairgrounds. “It might’ve been even better tonight.”

“We went from an 18th starting position to the lead without a caution period against the type of competition they have here every week,” Sheppard added. “It’s a lot of fun racing against these guys.

Rauscher took the lead from his pole-position start and had quite the battle with Mike O’Brien in the early stages of the event. At the lap 10 mark, it was Rauscher, O’Brien, Eldon Payne Jr., Steve Payne and Tim Currier.

While Rauscher had control of the race, O’Brien never lost sight of him. At the halfway point, Sheppard moved into sixth and on lap 21 he got himself into third and pressed Payne for the runner-up position. He got by Payne one lap later and started creeping up on Rauscher.

Three laps later, Sheppard was off to his second consecutive win in as many weeks.

“I have to give a lot of credit to my guys. I wasn’t even working on this car today. They set it up well.”

Jimmy Phelps moved into second on lap 32 but didn’t have enough to catch the high-flying Sheppard as the two crossed the finish line. Third was Rauscher in an impressive run. Fourth and fifth were early season winners Billy Dunn and Alan Johnson.

Heat winners were Justin Wright, Tim Currier and Dave Allen. The consolation event was won by Danny Johnson, who was up as high as fourth in the main event before having to exit the track late in the race to change a flat.

In the 25-lap Safety Awareness Solutions Sportsman feature, Greg Cool won his first-ever feature event at Canandaigua, taking the lead on lap 11 and holding off Tyler Meeks at the end as the two had a battle for the lead with just a handful of laps remaining. Cool was able to win by a 1.442-second margin at the finish.

“I didn’t know where victory lane was,” kidded Cool in victory lane. “They had to tell me. The car tonight was really good on the high side of turns three and four.”

About his race with Meeks?

“I caught a glimpse of him trying to get under me late. I was then able to get away from him.”

With Meeks taking home second, Paul Guererri came home in third place. Eric Giguere finished fourth while Karl Comfort was fifth.

Heat winners were Comfort, Meeks and Daryl Nutting.

In the 15-lap Parts Plus Street Stock feature, Mike Welch took home his fifth straight win as the Lyons, NY veteran also posted his 54th career win at the fast CMP half-mile.

“The car is great,” said Welch, who has won every Street Stock feature event at run at CMP in 2013. “The slicker the track, the better I like it.”

Welch took the lead on lap seven and was never headed. Finishing second was Nate Peckham followed by Blane Smith in third. Fourth was Chris Guererri followed by Mike Cooper.

The heat race winner was Bill Weller.

The 15-lap Pure Stock feature ended with Derek Excell winning his fourth in a row at the Canandaigua fairgrounds oval. Excell took the lead on lap two from Roger Bush and sailed on to another convincing victory.

“This car is working so well,” Excell said. “Especially on the slick stuff.”

Excell gave the credit to those behind him in the pit area.

Redemption Is Sweet For Pat Ward At Fulton Speedway

FULTON, NY - MAY 18,2012 (By Dave Medler) -

By Pat Ward's standards 2013 hasn't gotten off to the start he wanted. On top of that, on Friday night at the Brewerton Speedway, Ward had the fastest car and in the lead on the final lap when second place Ryan Bartlett who lost his brakes, got into Ward taking both out of contention for the win.

On Saturday night at the Fulton Speedway, Ward put it altogether and got the monkey off his back, as he outran teammates Billy Decker and Larry Wight for hugely popular win in the Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds.

Other winners on Syracuse haulers night were, Jason Occhino, SUNY Canton Sportsman (First Career Win) Alan Fink, NAPA Late Models, Jeremy Dygert, E&V Energy Novice Sportsman and Skip DeGroff, Four Cylinder Stocks.

At the start of the 35 lap Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modified feature, Dale Planck got the jump on Tim Schneider and the rest of the field to lead the opening lap. Planck's lead was short lived as one lap later Adam Roberts was able to shoot by Planck on lap 2.

On lap 4 disaster was avoided when Robbie Bellinger and another car made contact on the front straight, sending Bellinger into the wall. After the contact, Bellinger shot across the track and into the infield, and somehow was missed by the cars behind him, namely Dan Vauter at speed missed Bellinger by inches.

When the green came back out, Planck went back into the lead while behind him the field scrambled for position.

With 10 laps complete, Planck was still running the top and held a narrow lead over Jim Witko and Larry Wight. Behind the top-two, Roberts and Pat Ward ran in the top-five.

On lap 13, the battle was tight up front with Planck, Witko and Wight, as they used every inch of the speedway looking for an advantage. Just one lap later, Witko was able to get by Planck to be scored the new leader. Even Witko's lead was short lived as Wight dug on the extreme bottom to shoot into the lead on lap 15.

At the halfway point, Wight was still locked on the bottom as he led by about five-car lengths over Witko with Ward closing quick as the laps clicked off.

On lap 20, Ward grabbed second using the top of the speedway as he now took off after teammate Wight. Just two laps later Wight and Ward exited turn four as they closed quickly on Katelyn Kane. Ward was able to trap Wight behind the Kane car to get by Wight and be scored the new leader just before a caution.

Robbie Bellinger Scores Win At Brewerton Speedway

BREWERTON, NY - MAY 17,2013 (By Dave Medler) -

What a night at the Brewerton Speedway in the Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds. There was a first-lap crash that took out some top competitors and late in the race the top-two runners, Ryan Bartlett and Pat Ward made contact on the final lap. It ended with Robbie Bellinger passing Matt Sheppard on that final lap for his second career Brewerton win.

Other winners on Eagle Beverage/Bud Light Night were, Kevan Cook, Nationwide Insurance IMCA Modifieds, Joe Isabell, Anchor Bar & Grill Mod Lites and Chuck Powelczyk, Four Cylinder Stocks.

Ryan Bartlett outgunned Jim Witko and the rest of the field to lead the opening lap of the 35 lap Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modified feature just before a wild melee broke out. It appeared something happened to the Chuck Bower car as slowed dramatically just crossing the start/finish line stacking up the field collecting Bower, Dale Planck, Ryan Phelps, Billy Decker and Matt Hulsizer who went over. All drivers were okay, but the same couldn't be said for their equipment that suffered extensive damage and couldn't continue.

With 10 laps complete, Bartlett still set the pace out front. Witko ran second but had Pat Ward all over him looking for a way by with Rob Bellinger and Dan Vauter showing in the top-five.

At the halfway mark, Bartlett was having his best run of the season as he was still setting a quick pace at the front of the field. Witko, Ward and Bellinger were still in a tight battle for second, third and fourth with Vauter still showing in the top-five.

With 20 laps showing on the scoring tower, Bartlett was on rails as he opened a full straightaway lead, as he looked to runaway and hide. Pat Ward now ran second with Witko, Bellinger and Vauter still in the hunt.

With 10 to go Bartlett still led, but now timing and scoring showed Ward slowly reeling in Bartlett, cutting into his big lead. Bellinger, Witko and now Matt Sheppard who started deep in the pack worked his way into the top-five.

When starter Dave Farney gave the five to go sign, Ward drew within one car length of Bartlett setting up a shootout to the finish with Bellinger, Sheppard and Witko still in contention.

After working on Bartlett trying to find a way by, Ward was able to inch ahead exiting turn four coming down for the white flag. Going into turn one side by side Bartlett's car slid into Ward taking both up the track and out of the groove. This allowed Sheppard and Bellinger to shoot by. Just when it looked like Sheppard was going to pick up the win, Bellinger had other ideas as he drove it in hard in three and four and was able to outrun Sheppard to be the first under the checkers in the exciting finish.

After doing the victory lane roof dance and celebrating with his crew, Bellinger talked about how he put his Thompson Road Tavern/Black River Vending Services/JR U-Store/ Westward Painting/ No.8R in victory lane.

"We were pretty good all race, and for that to happen," Bellinger talking about the contact between leaders Pat Ward and Ryan Bartlett, "They just opened the door and we were there to capitalize."

Brian McDonald and Shane Pecore Victorious At Brockville Speedway

The Brockville Ontario Speedway opened its doors despite heavy rains around the area and the fans were treated to some action packed racing that many will not soon forget.

The night kicked off in fine style with the Rookie division. John Stanley and Tyler Markell led the field to the green and it didnt take long for Stanley to take his white #2 to the head of the class with Markell, Ron Day and Corbin Millar giving chase. The race would go caution free for the first 10 laps until the first yellow slowed the field for a cafr stopped in turn 4. On the restart Stanley held the lead but something broke causing his car to go airborne off turn 1. Stanley was able to keep it up right but was done for the night. This left Ron Day and Corbin Millar to battle for the win. On the final lap Millar made his move to the top side of turn 3 and it would prove to be the best one as Millar drove by the Day machine for his first win of 2013. Day came home 2nd, Tyler Markell, Brandon and Samantha Henderson crossed 4th and 5th.

In the newly formed Rookie Sportsman Class Aaron Pugh and Jamie Young led the field to the green in the 15 lap affair with Pugh grabbing the early race lead. Pugh held a comfortable advantage until lap 5 when something broke on Young's car sending him pitside. This left Pugh out front and despite a late race challenge from Chris Bakker, the youngster pulled out to a straightaway for his first win of the season in the new Rookie Sportsman class with Bakker, Jasmine David, Jeremy Coulter and Jamie Young completing the field.

In the Sportsman class Ryan Poole and Dylan Breen led the 27 car field to the green with Poole taking advantage into turn 1. Poole has not won since the 2011 Sportsman opener and was looking to get back into victory lane. The race was slowed by several early cautions but the biggest accident came on lap 11 when defending track champion Chris Herbison made contact with another car while battling in the top 10. Herbison slid off turn 1 onto the pit exit lane and ending up flipping over. Herbison was uninjured but incredibly was able to bring the car back out on the race track and come home 17th. Once the racing resumed the man on a mission was Shane Pecore. After spending a season in the 358 Modifieds he re-dedicated himself to the sportsman ranks and quickly charged from 8th to 2nd passing Dylan Breen with just 10 laps to go. 2010 track Champion Dylan Evoy who was running 3rd just 1 lap afterwards experienced mechanical woes that sent him to the infield and was credited with a 25th place run. On the final lap Ryan Poole did everything he could to hold off Pecore but Shane used the slide job in turn 3 to grab the lead and cruise to the popular win over Poole, Breen, Corey Wheeler and Tabatha Murphy.

In the 358 Modifieds heat winners Luke Stewart and John Mulder led the field of 27 cars to the green with Mulder grabbing the lead in turn 1. Several cautions plagued the event and involved some big names. On a lap 9 restart former Mr. Dirt 358 Modified Champion Mario Clair lost a right front tire spinning him infront of the field collecting Adam Moore and 10 time track champion Danny O'Brien. Moore was able to continue but O'Brien and Clair spent the rest of the night in and out of the pits. Just 2 laps later a major accident involded Quebec driver Daniel Nadeau who was hit hard by Gilles Goddard. both Nadeau and Goddard were ok but their cars were done for the night.Once the racing got going around lap 12 Brian McDonald who hadn't won a race since 2009 at the BOS was cruising around the top side of the speedway with TIm O'Brien, Bobby Herrington, Stephane Lafrance and Lee Gill completing the top 5. with 10 to go the man on the move was Lafrance. Stephane made his move around O'Brien to pick up 2nd Lee Gill also charged to 4th around Herrington with 5 laps to go. On a late restart McDonald tried to hold off the hard charging Lafrance and despite sveral late race challenges including a bold move off turn 4 "Slim" held strong for his 42nd career DIRTcar 358 modified win in 4 years over Lafrance, Tim O'Brien, Gill and Luke Whitteker.

In the Street Stocks Darrick Eaton ans 2 time champion Steve Billings led the field to the green with Billings taking the early race lead. On lap 7 Billings had a challenger in the form of Guy Regimbald who was able to take away the top spotas Steve Kearney, 3 time and defending champion Kevin Fetterly Jr., Brock Cullen and Nick Gauvreau all battled in the top 5. With a late race caution setting up a 2 lap dash to the finish Regimbald was able to hold off the challenge of Kearney for the big victory with Kearney, Fetterly, Cullen and Gauvreau rounding out the top 5.
